Langley Wedding at Estate 248| Taeya and James
The wedding was held at the gorgeous Estate 248 venue in Langley.
The end of August is a strange time for weather. Within days the temperature went from blistering hot to spring like. We expected to have to find cover for rain but instead the skies were dry and the temperature was perfect. Taeya and Jame's love story started early on as they met in high school and their relationship flourished. Their wedding was whimsical and surrounded by their family and friends.
The wedding was held at the gorgeous Estate 248 venue in Langley. Taeya got ready in the bridal suite with her bridesmaids and her mom. They did their nails and enjoyed eachother's company while calmly getting ready. Taeya chose comfort on her wedding day by wearing Jame's Peachy boxers which reflected her humour into her day. The boys had themselves ready and finished off the last minute decorating, finally passing the time by playing giant benga while sipping coffee.
We were informed before the wedding that Taeya requested all the guests to wear colour, and to avoid black, neutral colours, and of course white, as she isn't a fan of black or neutrals and was all about colour. This was a girl after my own heart as I to love me some colour. The boys wore a coloured suite jacket rather than a traditional black or navy suit. Their suits contrasted the girl's sage green dresses beautifully. Rather than a typical arch there was a horseshoe of flowers for them to stand in. This gave off such a romantic fairytale vibe that I personally adored! When it was time for the ceremony to start the boys turned their backs and hid so there was no peaking. Their daughter walked down the aisle with the help of her grandpa already setting the tone for their ceremony. Rather than flower girls they had their Grandma's be flower grannies adding another touch of unique personality to their wedding. When it came time for the two to share their personal vows James surprised everyone with a special announcement. The two of them were expecting baby number 2. Taeya had just found out a couple of weeks before the wedding so this was an extra special way to share the news with their loved ones. I do have to say he snuck it into his vows so seamlessly that not very many people actually caught on until after the ceremony.
Once the ceremony was complete we went off to do their portraits utilizing the scenic spaces at the venue so we didn't have to go very far. With Taeya being freshly pregnant she wasn't feeling the best so we opted for the two of them to take a break, which I might add most couples should do for a short bit to soak in the day. We spent some time capturing the cocktail hour enjoying the laid back family atmosphere and capturing some candid moments. During this time Taeya changed into her reception gown and they made their grand entrance. Their delicious dinner was catered by Cookies catering. Once Taeya and James finished eating we went into the field to take advantage of the magnificent golden hour light that was beaming in. When we returned they announced it was time for the cake. James had a trick up his sleeve and pulled out a machete to cut their cake which again showed the couple's fun loving humour. The speeches were full of so many funny stories of the two of them growing up, from chocolate milk to snails to how to keep Jame's alive. Jame's Dad created a survival kit for Taeya of all the things she might need for the coming years. The speeches were finished with the beloved shoe game. The couple made their wedding day their own by opting out of traditional parent dances and a first dance. As much as I personally love these moments I love even more that they did what made them happy on their wedding day. Instead they enjoyed time with their guests and opened the dance floor to all who wanted to dance. As the sun set and it was almost time for everyone to leave we took a few minutes to create some magical last photos for them since we chose to break up their portrait time. Looking back I think this was an amazing last minute plan as they got more time to relax and enjoy while also getting a diverse amount of portraits with the different light.
